Instructions for Plasma Pen Aftercare
Thank you for choosing The Skin Hub for your Plasma Pen Treatment. Please read and follow these instructions carefully to ensure proper healing and optimal results. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call us at 0499 382 762.
To reduce the risk of unwanted side effects, it is imperative that these Aftercare Instructions are followed implicitly.
- While the scabs are present, they should be kept dry at all times - any water that goes onto the area should be patted gently with a clean towel to help prevent infection. DO NOT rub.
- Optimal results are only achieved by maintaining an undisturbed and DRY environment.
- DO NOT cool. The heat during the treatment momentarily disturbs the thermal reaction of the skin. Cooling causes increased blood circulation and this may result in freezing of the tissue. Cooling stops the tightening effect and could severely damage the tissue.
- Treatments with the AICICIOIR Cosmetic Corrector may result in certain reactions, e.g. redness and swelling. Should these symptoms persist for longer than 6 days, or should other symptoms present, please contact us on 5243 3488 or your local doctor.
- To treat temporary pain, 500mg Paracetamol may be taken. Aspirin MUST NOT be taken, as this can cause more swelling. DO NOT take Ibuprofen as this is an inflammation blocker, we need the inflammation to cause the collagen fibres to contract permanently.
- Immediately after the treatment the skin was treated with the Medicone Gel wound dressing.
- The Medicone Gel must be used for 5 days, morning and night, to ensure optimal healing and results (DO NOT use Bepanthenol/Bepanthen or anything similar – it is too fatty and prevents healing)
- Each morning apply a THIN layer of the Medicone Gel. Pat the gel on with clean fingers and do NOT rub in or use a sponge. Repeat this process in the evening. Do not remove any Medicone Gel that has already been applied - this should stay on the skin at all times to reduce the sensation of tightness and promote healing.
- As long as the scabs are present avoid the sun, sweating, sauna and steam rooms and anything that may cause the area to become wet.
- DO NOT intentionally remove/pick the small circular scabs. Every manipulation of the scabs can cause scars. They will fall off on their own in 4-10 days.
- The skin beneath the scabs is sensitive. The pinkish colouration may last up to 6 months. To promote healing, DMK Beta gel serum must be applied morning and night. Use only after the scabs have fallen off.
- When the scabs have fallen off, use a sunscreen with SPF 50 on the treated areas. Avoid extreme sun exposure, UV rays and extreme minus temperatures for 2 weeks. Avoid solariums for 3-4 months. If the above instructions are not followed, pigment deviations and dark spots may occur.
- Please note, depending on the desired results, more than one treatment may be necessary. Follow-up treatments may only be performed 12 weeks after the previous treatment as the collagen fibres are still contracting and the skin is very sensitive. Additional sessions and pricing will be discussed if necessary.
Please call the salon if you are concerned at all. Do not hesitate to contact us to put your mind at ease if you have any questions regarding your healing.
